Volunteer at RMHC

Ronald McDonald House Canberra has the support of two full time staff. Our staff members bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure the successful operation of our House. We currently have over 150 volunteers who really are the ‘heart of our house’. Without our volunteer’s invaluable contribution, we would not be able to provide a ‘home away from home’ for our families.

Our Volunteers are involved in many aspects of running the House and Family Room. These include Housekeeping, Cooking, Maintenance, Reception, Administration, Overnights, Fundraising & Event support. Without our dedicated and committed volunteers we would not be able to run the House, and provide the support to the families of seriously ill children. Our volunteers are “the Heart of the House “ and we celebrate their contribution every day. We run an information session every three months for potential volunteers who are interested in joining our volunteer family, and invite anyone who is interested in attending one of these sessions.

Seeking more hearts to help with the following domestic duties:

  • Administration – Reception, meet and greet & house tour guide
  • House Operations – Housekeeping, cleaning, general maintenance, baking/cooking & gardening
  • Meals From the Heart Program – Hostess
  • Overnight Volunteering – Overnight supervision in the House
  • Corporate Volunteering – Available to Corporate partners
  • Projects – Special events, fundraising and event championing
  • Family Room

If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer, and would like to join our Ronald McDonald House Canberra family, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Michelle McCormack, on (02) 6281 5894 or

Once your application has been received, you will be contacted to book your spot for the next available orientation. We conduct periodic Volunteer information sessions dependant on resources and demand.

We are an independent non-profit organisation that provides a range of support to seriously ill children and their families when they need it most.
